HOUSTON, TX - Over 3,000 pieces of brand new, high end clothing were handed out to Houston first responders outside Rye 51 in The Heights. Rye 51 collected thousands of pieces of brand new clothes from vendors across the country and handed them out to first responders Thursday.
Hundreds of Houston-area police, fire and EMS workers lost their homes in Harvey and have huge expenses ahead of them, so a “comfort” donation like this means a lot.
"It is all brand new clothing--jeans, Chino's. one company donated 500 pairs to us. We're talking nice polo shirts.
cotton t-shirts, lounge wear, women's wear, blouses to t-shirts, lounge wear. We had footwear donated to us. We're trying to give back to the guys and gals that have been here for us for the last few weeks and that are here for us 24-7 every day of the week, " said the owner of Rye 51.
