HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Even before Hurricane Harvey struck the Texas coast and left flood damage in the Houston area as a tropical storm, the Harris County Precinct One Constable's Office had prepared to open a distribution center to support the community at large.
The distribution center, which has served more than 5,000 people who were affected by Harvey, is open daily from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. with the line to enter forming at 8:45 a.m. Harvey survivors can access items such as hygiene products, canned goods, diapers, wipes, baby food and cleaning supplies.
The center is accepting donations and families are able to come and sign in with only their name, amount of family members, telephone number and an email address. Donations were accepted from as far as Ohio, Pennsylvania, California and Louisiana. Generous donors in Laredo and Dallas also provided some of the goods at the center.
