Green Party convention held in Houston

The second floor of the University of Houston student center was packed Friday as the Green Party of the United States convention was held in Houston, TX.
In attendance was presidential candidate Dr. Jill Stein, who hopes to win the formal party nomination on Saturday.
Throughout the multi-day convention, party members have attended workshops and meeting on a number of party platform topics.
On Friday evening, there was a line out the door of the room where Dr. Stein was greeting voters.
"We have an emergency of the transpacific partnership which we need to stop, before it stops us and stops our democracy," said Dr. Stein as she was leaving the convention event Friday evening.
A young man asked, "will you stop it as president?"
"Oh yes, absolutely," responded Dr. Stein.
FOX 26 spoke with one former delegate for Bernie Sanders from Hawaii who has switched her support to the Green Party and Dr. Stein.
"She really speaks my values," exclaimed delegate Netra Halperin.
Halperin explained those values to be, "the economy being for everyone. Health, where corporations are held accountable for polluting and destroying health. Banks being held accountable, and also for foreign-policy where we don't go around and invading countries and we focus our money back into our community."
On Saturday, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange will be speaking at the convention via satellite interview.
Party members will gather tomorrow for the formal selection of the Green Party's presidential nominee.
Representatives for the party invite the Houston community to join them, either in support or to learn about the party.
