SANTA FE, Texas (FOX 26) - During a news conference on Friday afternoon, Governor Greg Abbott was surrounded by the men and women of the agencies that immediately responded after the initial 911 calls were made at Santa Fe High School in southeast Texas.
Speaking to reporters, Governor Abbott confirmed the identity of the shooter as Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 17, who was charged with murder. Gov. Abbott said Pagourtzis was seen wearing a trench coat, carrying two weapons and opening fire on those inside Santa Fe High School. The governor also said that multiple explosives were found and that other properties and vehicles were also being investigated.
“I ask every parent out there, wherever you may be, to hold your children close tonight and let them know how much you love them,” encouraged Gov. Abbott.
"This community is grieving," added U.S. Senator Ted Cruz. "The entire state of Texas, the entire country is grieving along with these parents, grieving along with these students, there have been too damn many of these.”
