Ft. Bend grass fire, a police chase and a man is killed trying to cross the Beltway

- Firefighters have gotten a handle on a large fire burning in a grassy field in Fort Bend County. 

Around 1:30 am this morning several trucks responded to a call on Bellaire and Mason road,  it appeared several metal tanks were on fire.

About 90 minutes later, firefighters were able to get it under control. The cause is under investigation.


No charges are expected for a driver that hit and killed a man trying to cross a busy roadway.

It happened  around 10:45 P  on the West Sam Houston Parkway south near Beechnut.

The driver was stopped and was not found to with impaired.


Houston police are looking for a driver that took off after crashing his car at the end of a police chase.

 Officers tried to pull him over for driving without headlights, That's when he took off down Greens road and drove off into a wooded area.

 He crashed into a fire hydrant on Seminar and both the driver and passenger took off .  Police caught the passenger, but the driver got away.
