FOX 26 News Brief for June 13, 2018

The jury heard opening arguments today in the trial of Terry Thompson. He's the husband of a former Harris County sheriff's deputy. Both are accused of killing Johnny Hernandez during a fight outside of a restaurant in Crosby.

Law enforcement seized more than 70 animals at a home in Cypress today. Investigators say the animals showed serious signs of neglect.

17-year-old Raul Garcia, Jr. is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon tonight. Investigators said he shot his friend in the face playing a social media challenge called You Lacking.

It's official the U.S., Mexico, and Canada will be the host countries for the 2026 World Cup. Houston is one of the 23 cities in the running to host the games, but only 16 will make the final cut.

A giant blue marlin washed ashore in Port Aransas. People tried to pull it back into the water, but weren't successful.

A Houston police officer is being praised for her act of kindness. A man shopping at Walmart had a diabetic episode and collapsed in the parking lot yesterday. Someone then stole his groceries. Thankfully, the officer came to the rescue.
