Fire contained at LyondellBasell Houston refinery

UPDATE: The Houston Fire Department has CANCELED the Shelter-in-Place order issued earlier today for portions of East Houston. Air monitoring has determined there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The Houston Fire Department was alerted to the fire at around 10:06 a.m. Friday and arrived to the facility along with the U.S. Fire Administration.

The fire is contained, according to the City of Pasadena Fire Marshal's Office, though black smoke was billowing for almost an hour.

The smoke is still present but is gray and appears less severe, based on the aerial view from SkyFOX helicopter.
