Friday afternoon Houston police got called out for a shooting at a home in the 6200 hundred block of Gaston.
"Family members reported that the husband was intoxicated, he pulled out a pistol and shot the wife multiple times, she was injured and is being treated at an area hospital right now, the outcome of that is uncertain at this point and the husband shot himself once in the head and is deceased", says Lt. Jack Harvey with the homicide division.
Neighbors concerned about what happened came out to the scene. "She called me crying saying there was gunshots there was gunshots", says Jorge Alonzo after getting a call from his mother.
Houston police say the couple had been fighting, at one point were estranged, but that they had recently got back together.
"Stay strong and be united, don't ever break apart as a family, even though what happened, always be together", says Alonzo.
Those investigating say they want family and friends of those dealing with mental illness to not take warning signs lightly. "The husband had talked for the last couple of weeks about wanting to kill himself, so to the public I implore you if you hear these things from family members try to seek help, there are crisis intervention teams, mental health association of Harris County, there are all sorts of resources out there", says Lt. Harvey.
