FEMA Disaster Recovery Center opened in Dickinson

The devastation felt in Dickinson from Hurricane Harvey was overwhelming, with almost 90% of the neighbors here severely struck by flooding from the storm.  Now a new FEMA disaster recovery center has opened in the Amegy Bank building, located at 2401 Termini Street in Dickinson. It's open from 7 am to 7 pm daily.  Almost 8,000 people in Dickinson were displaced from their homes, so workers have been busy helping others in need.

Representatives will help people file claims or help them with their existing claims. They'll also help link people with other resources they still need.  7,300 homes have some sort of damage and about 3,500 of have major damage or were destroyed. This center is open to anyone in the area who needs help. "

"It's gonna take at least 45 days...I don't have the money," said one Dickinson resident. This center is available for people throughout Galveston county not just Dickinson.
