EXCLUSIVE: Houston hero spotted suspected serial killer and called 911

A suspected serial killer, Jose Gilberto Rodriguez is behind bars this afternoon after police say he killed three people in the Houston area.  One courageous Houston hero, Larry Cox actually spotted the suspect as he was driving to work on Jones Road this morning, and he called 911.  Cox said that he had read a news alert about the suspect right before he started off to work, and he then he stumbled upon him on his commute.

"As I was approaching the car, I could clearly see, what looked like the head tattoos. There was absolutely no doubt in my mind that that was the person they were looking for. I crossed Jones road. I didn't know if he was going to go into a house. I believe he saw me, and he was suspicious. He went to a dead end and took a left.  He went out of sight again," said Cox.

Cox added that he was so relieved at how quickly police responded when he called 911. "From the time I called 911. It was absolutely amazing how fast they got there. I was having trouble catching my breath. And I was so afraid that he was going to get away.  He was still going to get away and do more harm to families. I was so afraid that he would get away again.  It’s just senseless. When he pulled over, I truly knew that he knew that I saw him."

Cox said that he knew he had to continue tracking him down from that point because he was afraid the suspect would get away. "I was having trouble catching my breath. And I was so afraid that he was going to get away.  He was still going to get away and do more harm to families. I was so afraid that he would get away again.  It’s just senseless."

Cox thanked God that he was able to help find this suspect. "After everything was said and done, all I did I said a few prayers and thanked the Lord that I was able to play a role in this. It's not gonna bring back the loved ones who were lost, but hopefully maybe it saved other people"
