Several injured in flash fire at Nederland refinery

NEDERLAND, Texas - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office along with Nederland Police are responding to an incident at the Sunoco refinery.

It happened Friday around 9 p.m. at the facility located in the 2300 block of Twin City Highway southeast of Beaumont.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, a total of seven people were injured in an apparent flash fire.

Four people  were transported by ground to area hospitals and three were transported by helicopter after sustaining burns in the fire.

EMS in on scene and medical helicopters on on their way to transport those injured.

Officials say there is currently no danger to the areas around the plant.
