Elder care facility at center of investigation

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Only on FOX, a north Houston nursing home has been the target of a state probe and now investigators have dropped the hammer.

Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services investigators have been at Winterhaven Health Care Center since Tuesday. They are looking into allegations that elderly patients are not getting proper medical care and their medications because the of financial problems at the facility. 

DADS media relations manager Cecilia Cavuto confirms that the care center has been designated as in immediate jeopardy, meaning the safety and health of the clients could be uncertain at the facility.

A Winterhaven Health Care Center representative declined to comment on the investigation...

In the meantime, Cavuto says a state worker will remain at the facility until the problems are corrected.
