Driver rescued during July 4 street flooding
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - A driver who found herself in high water on the Fourth of July was rescued by Precinct 5 Toll Road units and an Incident Response Team member.
The Precinct 5 Constable's Office shared video of the rescue. It shows the vehicle floating in high water at the U.S. 59-Westpark interchange. The Precinct 5 team was able to secure a rope to the car and tow it out while battling a strong stream of rushing water.
Precinct 5 wants to remind drivers to avoid driving during heavy rains and to watch out for street closures.
The rains on July 4 caused street flooding throughout the Houston area and led to the cancelation of several Independence Day celebrations.
