HUNTSVILLE, Texas (FOX 26) - A teen is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after deputies say he shot his friend in the face during a social media challenge.
The Grimes County Sheriff's Office says Raul Garcia Jr. , 17, shot a 16-year-old boy in the face on Sunday while playing a "game" called "You Lackin".
Authorities say the game is prevalent on social media and involves one person pointing a gun at the other and asking, "You Lackin?" The other person then pulls a gun out, pointing it back, and says, "no", according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators say Garcia was playing the game and pointed his gun at his friend when it discharged.
According to the sheriff's office, Garcia threw the pistols out of the vehicle, called 911 and drove his friend to the hospital. Garcia was met by officers at the hospital and taken into custody.
The 16-year-old boy was hospitalized in stable condition.
