An elderly Houston couple is finally able to enjoy the Christmas Gift their son. Richard Salas gave them. The gift was a new TV. But they say it was cracked when they opened it.

Oscar De Los Santos is blind so listening to the television is one of the few ways he has to keep in touch with the world.

"I can usually tell what time it is in the day just by listening to the programs, " he said. So when their Salas walked in with their Christmas gift, his parents were thrilled.

“I didn't believe it I didn't believe it," Patricia De los Santos said.

But the couple was moving and didn't open the box for a couple of weeks. That's when their joy turned to disappointment. They told their son the TV had a crack inside the screen.

Mrs. De los Santos said her son contacted Conn’s Appliance where he bought the TV. Salas told us he couldn’t get any help from Conn’s Customer Care. So he Took it to Akin!

Consumer Reporter Emily contacted Conn’s.

Conn’s issued this statement:

"Conn's dedicated customer support team responds promptly to any potential problems customers may encounter with the products they purchase.

In this case, Mr. Salas contacted Conn's on January 2, 2016, to discuss an issue with the Samsung Smart TV he'd bought for his parents as a gift over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Although Conn's was not able to determine whether the damage to the TV had happened in store, we offered Mr. Salas in-store credit to replace the TV as a gesture of goodwill.

Conn's is confident that it did its due diligence in this case and is happy that we came to an amicable conclusion with Mr. Salas."
