HOUSTON - The University of Houston officially offered coach Tom Herman a contract extension that includes a seven figure increase.
Meanwhile rumors are circulating that Louisiana State University is working on a deal to steal the sought after coach.
Houston Board of Regents Chairman Tillman Fertitta says the university won’t lose Tom Herman because of money.
Herman agreed to an extension last December that more than doubled his three million dollar a year salary.
Cougar fans say they hope the university does whatever it takes to keep Herman.
“Everything he has going for him here at U of H the support from the athletic director to the president of U of H from all the fans and the entire city he’s not going anywhere,” said Cougars fan Noel Conpan.
“He gave hope to U of H and that’s always good coming from a Houstonian,” said Cougars fan Jonathan Gonzales. “He’s a coach that cares about the students and players and wants the best for them so I really hope he stays.”
“He has a real potential to make U of H something it hasn’t been in many years,” Cougars fan Stephen Ruiz said.
“We want coach Herman to stay and we’re hoping those rumors aren’t true,” fan Andrea Zapata said. “He will take us to even higher and higher levels.”
