Cleveland ISD elementary student arrested for taking BB gun to school

CLEVELAND, Texas (FOX 26) - Cleveland ISD says a student at Eastside Elementary was arrested after the student took a BB gun to school.

The district says the Cleveland ISD Police Department  was contacted and responded immediately.

Cleveland ISD sent this note to parents:

This morning, the instructional setting at Eastside Elementary school was disrupted by a situation which the school district takes very seriously. An Eastside Elementary student came to school with a BB gun. The Cleveland ISD Police Department was contacted and responded instantaneously. The student with the BB gun was detained and arrested. Cleveland Independent School District takes these situations very seriously, and we put safety as the first priority for our students. Parents expect their children to be safe at school, and the District’s intention is to provide a safe environment for everyone. Campus administration and law enforcement officials will continue to investigate this situation and appropriate disciplinary action has been taken.
