Child's body found near Galveston seawall

Someone walking along the beach reported finding the body of a young child to Galveston police. The body was found near the intersection of 7th Street and Seawall Boulevard at around 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Galveston Police Department officers and the Galveston Island Beach Patrol arrived to where the body was found and say the child appeared to be a boy between the ages of three and five years old. They have not identified the boy and no one else was seen near the body when it was found.

The Galveston Police Department is evaluating missing person records to find a report with a matching description. Police are also working with other law enforcement agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard to determine if they have received any reports of missing persons that would match the description.
