Houston police say a 7-year-old child has died after being ejected from a vehicle during a crash, just before 1 am this morning. Police say the mother was driving when she lost control of her vehicle at Maxey and Woodforest B oulevard in East Houston's Northshore area. She left the road, hit a light pole, then hit a culvert, causing her vehicle to go airborne and roll.

The child was ejected and rushed to the hospital. Two other children were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The mother is at the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Police say the woman was speeding when she lost control, and that alcohol may have been a factor. There was an open alcoholic beverage in the car. Police don't know if it was open before crash or if crash opened it—they’re investigating.
