Day care is no longer just for kids.

Everyday thousands of Houstonians take their dogs to day care while they’re at work.

“The pet industry is stuck in the 80’s,” said Jeff Davis owner of Dog House Pet Salon. “We’re trying to bring it into the 21st century.”

And Davis says he plans to do just that.

About three years ago Davis says he noticed a huge problem in the pet service industry.

“That most customers don’t know when their vaccinations expire or who their last veterinarian was,” Davis said.

That information is required for doggie day care, boarding air travel and sometimes grooming.

Davis and his partner came up with an app called My Pet Credentials.

“Our intention was to help manage their pets lives with one thumb,” said Davis.

The new ap will help you find your pet if it’s lost.

Keep all your pets vet records in one location and help you make and keep track of appointments for your pet.

The app will even have a personal profile of your pet with feeding instructions and preexisting conditions.

“We’d like to put control in the pet owners hands,” Davis said.

Davis says a lot of time and money has gone into the app.

He’s turned to crowd funding through indiegogo to speed things up.

“We’re about 85 percent finished once we get those funds we will be about 90 days out,” Davis said. “If we don’t reach out campaign goal we might be 6 months out . We will continue to self funjd the app so it’s going to come to the market.”
