HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Alfred 'Charles' Turner, the brother of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, has died. A statement from a representative for Mayor Turner says Alfred died last week.
A celebration of Charles’ life is scheduled for Saturday, May 7, at Paradise Funeral Home on 10401 West Montgomery with a viewing from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and funeral services to begin at 1:30 p.m. Following the burial service, the Turner family will welcome friends at the Beulah Ann Shepard Building on 6112 Wheatley.
Alfred 'Charles' Turner was born in 1947. Though he was named Alfred, everyone knew him as Charles. He was an accoplished student at Carver High School and graduated as valedictorian in 1965. He served in the U.S. Air Force and then returned to Acres Homes.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.
Mayor Turner thanks everyone for their condolences.
