Brazos levee breached near Columbia Lakes

Brazoria County emergency management officials reported that the Brazos levee near Columbia Lakes has breached.

All residents have been urged to evacuate now.

Flash flooding is already occurring.

Brazoria County had already issued a mandatory evacuation for its Coastal Communities.

Residents living on the Gulf side of the Intercoastal Canal were expecting at least a 6-10 foot storm surge.

Voluntary Evacuation for residents living along the San Bernard River was already in effect.

NWS river hdyrologists had predicted a historic river crest was imminent.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.

If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.

Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to protect life and property.
