MISSOURI CITY, Texas (FOX 26) - Fox 26 was told the corpse was found by jogger around 7AM, shortly after sunrise.
A prescription medication bottle found on the victim gave detectives the information needed to establish identity.
The body was of 17 year old Estuai Quinonez, a student at Madison High School and a resident of Southwest Houston.
Detectives confirmed that Quinonez had suffered multiple gunshot wounds sometime after midnight and before sunrise.
"It's a big large area we still have divers out at the scene at the lake looking for any possible evidence in the lakes. It's just going to be basically back tracking trying to find out who this individual was, who he was with and that will give us a better idea of what may have happened," said Captain Paul Polton, spokesman for the Missouri City Police.
Investigators are hoping the public will aid them in finding the killer or killers.
"Anybody that knows anything, even the littlest minute thing they might not think is a big deal might be critical in this case. If you have any information about the individual and what you may have heard last night we encourage them to call the Police Department we'd love to talk to them," said Polton.
