Body found, ex-husband charged in case of missing Baytown woman
BAYTOWN, Texas (FOX 26) - The search for a woman from Baytown who had been missing since August 25 has come to a tragic end.
A body believed to that of 38-year-old Crystal McDowell was found in a wooded area of west Chambers County, the sheriff's office says. Crystal McDowell’s ex-husband, 44-year-old Steven Wayne McDowell, has been arrested and charged with murder.
The investigation began when the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a welfare concern for Crystal McDowell on August 26. She was reportedly last seen on August 25. Crews had been searching for several days in an area just north of Highway 99 in Baytown.
