Spring ISD student takes kitchen knife to school

Bammel Middle School in Spring ISD sent a letter home to parents on Thursday notifying them that a student took a small kitchen knife school in their jacket.

According to the letter, the knife was confiscated as soon as it was reported and appropriate disciplinary action has been taken.

This is the letter sent to parents:

Bammel Middle Parents and Guardians,

Please be advised that a student brought a small kitchen knife to school today in their jacket. As soon as it was reported, it was quickly confiscated by school staff, reported to school administration, and appropriate disciplinary action has been taken.

Although no students were harmed and it was never used in a threatening way, the safety of our students is our top priority at Bammel Middle. We take matters like these very seriously. Please check your child’s belongings in the morning before they leave for school and emphasize the seriousness of bringing inappropriate and illegal items to school. As part of our end-of-year safety protocol, we have asked the students to not carry backpacks or large purses to school for the remainder of the school year. In addition, talk with your student about the importance of reporting anything that might be a danger or seem threatening.
