Baby dropped off at fire station now in grandmother's care

A child left at a southwest Houston fire station is now in the care of the child's grandmother.

Around 8:40 p.m, the Houston Fire Department say a man walked to Fire Station 76 in the 7200 block of Cook Road and dropped the child off with firefighters. Officials say the man left and returned a short time later, dropping off a car seat and other baby items before leaving again.

Firefighters contacted HPD who took over the case. The grandmother of the child showed up at the fire station and explained what happened. Officers deemed it appropriate to let the child go back with her and released the child into her custody.
