Baby boy fighting for his life as reward for info leading to shooter increases to $35k

CHICAGO (Fox 32 News) - The reward is now up to $35,000 for information leading to whoever shot a baby boy in the head in Chicago.

DeJohn Irving was shot on Thursday evening’s shooting at 99th and Throop in the Longwood Manor neighborhood. He’d been in the back seat of a Kia with two other children when bullets left terrifying impressions in the passenger’s side door. Chicago police say it appears the shooting was targeted, but the victim’s relatives say they think it was a case of mistaken identity.

Chase’s grandmother was driving the Kia. His mother was in the front seat. Neither was hurt. 

On Saturday night, community activist Andrew Holmes said that Irving is fighting for his life. Holmes wants someone to call police with concrete information to get the shooter off the streets.

"While the family is inside that the hospital hoping and praying, all it takes is that one phone all," Holmes said. "Someone knows the name of the individual who was dirving, who discharged the weapon."
