Awards ceremony honors human rights workers

Sunday night, Kathryn Griffin, wife of FOX 26’S Jose Grinan, received a special award recognizing her efforts to help others in the field of sex trafficking.

The Rothko Chapel’s Oscar Romero Award is given to those working on behalf of human rights. Griffin has told her story many times about being on the streets.  Now she helps other women get out and take back their lives.

“It is a blessing to know that it is not a lifetime sentence. Once we are rescued and rehabilitated and restored, we go on to empower others and live a whole brand new, unimaginable, great life,” Griffin said.

Two awards were given tonight. The other went to a man who works for human rights improvements in Burundi.
