WEBSTER (FOX 26) - What Jason says happened Monday night at his apartment at the Avana Grand Palms in Webster has him so shook up he asked that we not use his last name.
“After the police came 5 minutes after that we were packing to get out of the apartment,” Jason said.
Jason who happened to take a vacation day on Monday says he and his wife were watching TV.
“We were sitting on the bed and my wife saw a shadow on our sliding glass door,” Jason said.
Jason says he didn’t think much about it until his wife got up to take a closer look.
“She ran back into our room and said there’s a man in our balcony staring into our sliding glass door,” said Jason.
That’s when Jason says he grabbed his gun.
“The man was on his hands and knees sticking what looked like a small knife or some sort of tool through the door in order to disengage the lock on the sliding glass door,” Jason said.
Jason says when the man noticed he had a gun he took off and jumped into a vehicle where another man was waiting.
“It was very terrifying even though he was there,” said Jason’s wife Lucia.
Jason showed us about half a dozen e-mails the complex sent to residents about alleged burglaries and reminding first floor residents like him to utilize the security bar in the patio door.
Jason says his request to be let out of his lease early fell on deaf ears. Even though he says he has to pay rent there for two more months he says his family won’t be living there.
“I don’t know where we are going to go,” Jason said.
We asked the apartment manager for a response to Jason’s concerns and she told us she would contact their corporate office and someone would be contacting us.
So far we’ve heard nothing back.
