Urban Outfitters Inc. recalls 'booze' & 'hot mess' teacups because of fire hazard

A series of ceramic cups with "cheeky" messages that were sold at Urban Outfitters stores has been recalled, not because of the content of the messages, but because the paint on the cups can spark when they are heated in microwave ovens.

Urban Outfitters Inc. announced the recall on Wednesday. The teacups, which are manufactured in China, are labeled as microwave safe and dishwasher safe, but at least one consumer reported to the company that the gold paint accents caused the cups to spark in the microwave ovens. No injuries have been reported related to the recall.

The 'Cheeky' teacups with floral motifs contain the following messages as part of their designs:

  • hot mess
  • booze
  • one classy b---h
  • more whiskey please
