Atlanta firefighters said equipment fell from the scaffolding and struck power lines on the way down to the ground. The Atlanta Fire Department said that led to an electrical explosion and vehicle fire.

Traffic was shut down at 14th Street and West Peachtree Street following the collapse. Firefighters were working to secure the portion of the platform that was dangling from the building.
