2 children found safe after Amber Alert issued in Maryland; father in custody

GAITHERSBURG, Md. - An Amber Alert has been canceled after a father accused of stabbing his girlfriend and abducting his two children in Montgomery County have all been located safe in Prince George's County, according to authorities.

Police said 9-year-old Kingston Perry and 18-month-old Karina Perry were taken by 35-year-old Dwight Perry after they were last seen in Gaithersburg at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities said they responded to the 700 block of West Side Drive in Gaithersburg for the report of a domestic-related stabbing. The victim, who officials said is Dwight Perry's girlfriend, was rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The stabbing victim is the mother of Karina Perry, police stated. Dwight Perry is the biological father of both kids.

Following the stabbing, Dwight Perry fled the scene with the children, according to officials.

On Tuesday evening, Prince George's County police said Dwight Perry and both of his children were all located in Prince George’s County.

According to police, the 35-year-old father driving a blue Toyota Camry pulled into at a firehouse on Campus Way South in Upper Marlboro and apparently turned himself in after hearing about the Amber Alert on the radio. He told officers that he had dropped off the children earlier in the day.

Karina Perry was found at a daycare in the 2700 block of Philben Drive in Adelphi while Kingston Perry was located at a relative's home in the 6000 block of Riggs Road in Hyattsville, police said.

Both children were found in good condition and were unharmed, officials said.

Montgomery County police said detectives headed to Prince George's County to take over the investigation and to interview Dwight Perry about the stabbing in Gaithersburg.
