Ted Cruz man of the hour at Wednesday's GOP fundraising event

- Every republican presidential candidate was invited to Wednesday nights Harris County Republican Party 2016 Lincoln Reagan dinner but only two showed up.Ted Cruz and Ben Carson.

It was a virtual who's who of Harris County republicans attending the fundraiser which turned into a Ted Cruz love fest.

A just released University of Houston poll shows Cruz leading over Donald Trump here in Texas on Super Tuesday. But winning isn't enough. The race is really about who can get the most delegates.

"If you don't get fifty percent of the congressional district, you're going to end up when you win the district you'll have two out of the three votes," said State Senator Paul Bettencourt. "So it will be very probable Cruz will come out with 72 delegates."

So Bettencourt estimates could get at least 100 of the state's 155 delegates.

"6 days from now, Super Tuesday, I am convinced will be the most important day in the entire presidential election," Cruz said. "There are more delegates awarded on Super Tuesday than any day of the year nearly 600 that's nearly half of what is required to win the republican nomination."

On Wednesday Governor Greg Abbott endorsed Cruz.

"Cruz has real solutions," the governor said. "I think he has such strong viability to be the next president."
