Ashley Howard sentenced in 2013 case

- Ashley Mere Howard, one of three people involved in a deadly crash in 2013 that was followed by a police vehicle chase, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after she was found guilty of murder on Wednesday. Howard did not drive the vehicle in the crash.

The crash killed Rosalva Quesada, who was driving a vehicle with her sons, 15 year-old Samuel, 7-year-old Hector and 5 -year-old Jose. The accident took place on Quitman Street near the Eastex Freeway. Shiquinta Franklin was 21 years old when she drove vehicle past a red light and crashed into Quesada's car. Howard and Raquel Gonzalez were passengers in the car.

Howard was originally charged with felony theft and evading arrest.
 
Police say the three females had stolen more than $2,600 in merchandise, which is why officers were pursuing them.
