AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Authorities say four people have been stabbed while at an Austin apartment complex and police are trying to determine who attacked the victims. Austin police did not immediately announce any arrests or a motive in the stabbings early Saturday afternoon. Austin-Travis County EMS says the victims were seriously hurt but all are expected to survive.
GARLAND, Texas (AP) — An East Texas man suspected of fatally shooting a police dog following a traffic stop has been captured in the Dallas area. Michael Paul Koch of Grand Saline was caught Saturday morning in Garland. The dog named Ogar was killed Tuesday after a constable stopped a vehicle near Lindale, 80 miles southeast of Dallas.
DENTON, Texas (AP) — A North Texas pilot has suffered minor injuries after engine trouble forced an emergency landing within yards of some power line towers. The Denton Record-Chronicle reports David Kinney of Aubrey put the twin engine Piper Navajo down Friday afternoon near U.S. 380. Kinney suffered bumps and bruises in the accident during a routine maintenance flight following takeoff from Denton Enterprise Airport.
MESA, Ariz. (AP) — A Texas woman is questioning what led suburban Phoenix police to fatally shoot her unarmed husband at a hotel. Laney Sweet of Granbury, says she has hired attorneys to look into the death of Daniel Shaver. Mesa police say officers were called Monday night after guests reported seeing a man point a rifle outside a fifth-floor window.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A legal battle in San Antonio involving New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson and control of a nearly $1 billion family estate trust has been settled. The Express-News reports a settlement in the lawsuit involving control of the estate trust was reached Friday. Terms are confidential.
VAN HORN, Texas (AP) — A private space company completed another successful unmanned rocket launch in West Texas with the same vehicle as November and with a safe landing. Blue Origin, founded by Jeff Bezos, announced the reusable New Shepard launched Friday near Van Horn, Texas and returned to Earth with another upright landing. The Kent, Washington-based company also launched the New Shepard on November 23rd from the same site.
