HOUSTON (FOX 26) - The METRO Police Department is investigating a robbery on board a bus reported near the University of Houston campus. The robbery was reported to the UH Police Department at around 12:05 p.m. Thursday on Wheeler Avenue near University Oaks Boulevard.
UH police learned that the robber approached a passenger on the bus and acted as if had a weapon tucked under his hooded sweatshirt before demanding the passenger's cell phone. After the passenger gave the robber a small amount of cash, the robber exited the bus and ran westward on Wheeler Avenue toward Scott Street.
The robber is described by UH police as a black man between the ages of 25 and 30 who stands at an approximate height of 5-feet 6-inches tall and weighing between 150 and 155 pounds with a skinny build. He has light-colored skin, a short haircut, a possible teardrop tattoo below his left eye and wore black windbreaker pants and a black hooded sweatshirt with white and gray writing on the front.
UH police have not confirmed if the robber actually carried a weapon.
