Dirt-bikers, ATV riders take to Miami streets for MLK Day

- Motorcyclists and ATV riders took to the streets of Miami on Monday, supposedly as a show of solidarity on Martin Luther King Day, according to WSVN

Miami-Dade police were watching for the activity Monday after hundreds of bikers and ATV riders took to the streets last MLK Day. The group said the event was to stop violence, but WSVN reports chaos ensued.

The vehicles were mostly off-road and illegal on public streets in Miami.

Police said this year, officers were more prepared for the group, who used the phrase, "bikes up, guns down" to promote their cause. Officers said they were most interested in promoting safety, rather than making multiple arrests.

The view from SkyFOX showed what appeared to be a few dozen people on dirt bikes and ATVs Monday, just after 3:30 p.m. Police were not seen following them, however many of the riders were popping wheelies and swerving through traffic.
