HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Just when you thought they were just ugly but harmless - think again.
The Harris County Attorney's office is aggressively going after what they call bandit signs. You know those signs posted in the public right away all around Harris County. Investigators say while most are posted by legitimate businesses some are posted by criminals who are looking to gain access to your home.
Bethany Dwyer with the Harris County Attorney's office says, "if you call the numbers on a lot of these signs you find out they're just burner phones...that attract some of the crime."
The County Attorney's office is also educating residents on how to remove and destroy the signs that are illegally posted around the county.
