6 children injured in Guatemala volcanic eruption to be treated in Galveston

Six children injured in the recent volcanic eruption in Guatemala will receive treatment at Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston.

A U.S. Air Force aircraft transporting the children is expected to arrive after midnight on Thursday. 

The children will receive treatment for burns and other injuries sustained in the eruption.

A team of aeromedical evacuation, pediatric intensive care, and burn-victim treatment specialists will accompanying the children and their guardians as they make the trip on the U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircraft.

At least 99 people are confirmed dead after the eruption of Guatemala's Volcano of Fire, according to Guatemala's National Institute of Forensic Sciences.
