Domestic violence survivor, mom of 5 who lost everything, receives Christmas miracle

Seeing Angela Boyce eye's filled with tears of joy can lift anyone's spirit. It is a Christmas miracle one week early - and it's a story of overcoming the odds.

"You know Amy Lange just texted me," Angela said. "She said, 'You should be proud that your family has gone through so much and no matter what you guys have stuck together.'"

It has been a tough time for this single mom of five.

Angela's ex-husband abused her. Once homeless, Angela got out of that bad situation, and the non-profit Humble Design helped move her and her kids into a Woodhaven apartment. Then black mold ruined nearly all of their belongings.

"All of the love we've received since that last video with the mold and everything," she said. "I just didn't expect to come back here today and experience the same miracle."

For the past few weeks, Angela and her beautiful children have been bouncing around from place to place.

"We're not going to be sleeping on the floor tonight, right," Angela said. "They're going to have their beds, everything. It's just amazing."

On Friday, Allstate gave Angela a check for $2,500 and Humble Design decked out her new home with furniture.

"We measured it, we asked her what kind of colors she liked, what kind of beds the kids wanted," said Julie Nagle of Humble Design. "And we went back to our warehouse in Pontiac. It is 12,000 square feet, full of donated furniture from the community."

"I'm thinking forward, I'm thinking how do I give back," Angela said. "And you affirm self which is right there on my wall. That's the name of the business that I've been creating where I can go into the community and I can tell women, you can affirm yourself. You can get through any obstacle, any setback, anything. You have to know it's a set up for your future."

FOX 2's Amy Lange first reported on Angela's story and helped get a stove, washer, and dryer donated.

And Angela wanted to share a special thank you for Amy.

"I want to thank Amy Lange, you are a super hero, you are my rock star. You are my She-ro," Angela said. "She has stayed with us the entire time and advocating for us in ways, I can't even imagine. Thank you so much, Amy. I love you so much."
