- A police chase involving a stolen car ended with the driver crashing into the curb and four suspects trying to get away on foot. It started around overnight on Westheimer and Gessner and ended on the Katy freeway. HPD says one of the suspects had to be tased to get him to stop running. All four were caught.

Police say a gun was found in the stolen car. Dequan Byrd, Miguel Carrizales and Russell Shelton are charged with felonies.

President Obama is preparing to take questions today at the white house, in what will likely be his final news conference of the year. National security is expected to be the big topic. The president will later head to California to meet with families of the victims of the San Bernardino shooting before going to Hawaii for the holidays.

 

Pope Francis has signed off on the second miracle needed to make Mother Teresa a saint two decades after her death. The miracle needed for her canonization concerned the inexplicable cure in 2008 of a man in Brazil with multiple brain abscesses who, within a day of being in a coma, was cured, there is speculation the ceremony will take place in the first week of September -- to coincide with the anniversary of her death.
