- A man is in the hospital after being shot west of downtown Houston. Police responded to the call in a parking lot on Washington Avenue. They found the victim shot more than once.

          Investigators say the man may have been one of several people who following another person from a club. Robbery may have been the motive.    

More than 50 homes are damaged after an EF 2 tornado struck leaving quite a mess in east Texas in the community of Lindale near Tyler. A line of showers that contained strong winds over the weekend also derailed a train leaving 64 cargo rail cars off the tracks.

           A typhoon has slammed into the eastern Philippines, where flood- and landslide-prone communities are bracing for destructive winds, heavy rains and coastal floods of up to 13 feet. Thousands of residents have evacuated. The government's weather bureau says the typhoon is packing winds of 95 miles per hour and gusts of 115 miles per hour.

Egypt's chief investigator says a preliminary investigation into the October crash of a Russian passenger plane has found no indication yet of any "illegal or terrorist act." Russia has said an explosive device had been placed onboard the jet and the Sinai branch of the Islamic state group has claimed responsibility.
