Police: Man Lured, Sexually Assaulted Young Teen

- Police have released a sketch of a man they said lured a 13-year-old boy into his vehicle, drove him to a vacant home in southwest Atlanta, and sexually assaulted him.

The crime happened Sept. 23 as the boy was walking down Lee Street near the Oakland City Train Station. Police said the man was in a red sedan, possibly a Hyundai Sonata with a drive-out tag, when he approached the young teen and offered him a ride to help him get home.

The man instead drove the boy to a vacant home in the 1900 block of Childress Drive, and proceeded to assault him in the car while parked in the driveway of the home.

"[The suspect] sexually assaulted the boy. He broke off from the suspect, ran away, and the vehicle drove off," said Lt. Celeste Murphy of the Atlanta Police Special Victims Unit. She said possible DNA evidence has not positively identified any suspects so far.

The man is described as being in his mid-30s with a low haircut with waves, a full beard, and a scar or dot near his right eye.

"I'm afraid for the kids," one concerned neighbor said.

Crime Stoppers Atlanta is offering a $2,000 reward in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call 404-577-TIPS (8477).
