5-year search for answers in bizarre hit-and-run death

TOMBALL, Texas (FOX 26) - Every March 16 for the last five years, Bobby and Ronica LeRoy visit the spot where their 23-year-old son Cory died.

Bobby LeRoy still can't talk about his youngest son without choking back tears.

"He was a good man and did whatever it took to help anybody," said the grieving father. Sleeping doesn't come easy for him. "Just wondering and knowing every night when you lay down, 'Why would it happen?"

Cory LeRoy spent the last night of his life at an ice house on FM 2920 that has since closed. He was walking on the highway just a quarter of a mile east of Muechske Road.

A woman told sheriff's deputies that she saw Cory coming out of the woods.

"The passerby saw him coming towards the street as if possibly he was injured," said Bobby. But no one stopped to help him. He was struck by two vehicles instead.

"The sheriff's department said the first vehicle that struck him did not stop to render aid and possibly a second one came and struck him while he was already down on the road," said Bobby.

Five years have passed and Cory's family still has no answers or justice. But they do have this to say to those responsible for his death: "What would drive you to want to do something like this to another individual?," asked Bobby.

"How could you do something like this to a child?,"  asked Cory's stepmother Ronica. "How could you do something like this to a mother and father and live with yourself?" 

No matter how much time passes, Cory's father says he'll never stop looking for answers.

"I'm going to continue on till I can no longer go and I'm deceased myself," said Bobby. "I made that promise to my son every day I look for answers."
