5 in custody for smash and grab, Beaumont school closed, GOP debate, and gun violence protestors

- Five people are in custody after a smash and grab at a northwest Houston convenience store.

Police say the suspects used a truck to break through a wall at the store located on Rosslyn near West Gulf Bank. It’s not clear what they were trying to take

Police are investigating to see if more people were involved in this crime.


 Two people walked away with just minor bumps and bruises, after their Jeep  rolled over on the Southwest Freeway, near south Rice.

Police tell us that another car cut off the jeep, causing the driver to lose control.

The SUV then slammed into the concrete wall and flipped over. The other vehicle had minor damage.


A carbon monoxide leak is keeping students and teachers out of a Beaumont middle school.

Marshall Middle school was evacuated Thursday when 150 children and staff got sick due to the leak, linked to a boiler. The victims were treated at the hospital.


Donald Trump's absence from the Fox News channel  GOP debate put the spotlight on Texas Senator Ted Cruz. he battled with rival Marco Rubio over immigration and national security.

Trump held a separate event Thursday night, raising six million dollars for veterans.

the Iowa caucuses take place on Monday.


Protesters make their voices heard about gun violence during a town hall meeting, put on by Congressman Gene Green.

The group, Ministers Against Crime, put on the demonstration. It claims Green votes for measures in support of the National Rifle Association.
