48-year-old Alief school board member allegedly murdered by her 22-year-old son

Alief school board member Dedre Jefferson posted this picture of herself and her 22-year-old son Blake on her Facebook page just 5 days ago.

Sheriff’s deputies say at 2 a.m. Friday Jefferson called her mother Ella in a panic

“And stated he was not in his right mind and was doing some things she didn’t know what was wrong with him,” said the family’s Pastor Gregg Patrick.

Patrick says Dedre told her mother Blake had taken a bottle of pills

“”We have no idea what the argument was or if there even was an argument,” said Harris County Sheriff’s Sergeant Ben Beall.

“The grandmother was on the phone when he snapped she was on the phone with her daughter and she screamed he’s stabbing me,” Patrick said.

Deputies say Ella Jefferson rushed to the West Wind townhouses on Garden Grove Court to find her daughter dead.

They say her grandson forced his way into a stranger’s townhouse nearby .

“He was found hiding in a closet and taken into custody,” Beall said.

Patrick says Blake spoke recently about having spiritual visions.

“They were not telling him to hurt anybody or anything like that but he was hearing from the Lord I believe,” Patrick said.

The pastor says he was supposed to meet with Blake on Friday for what he thought was Blake’s revelation about becoming a minister.

Instead Patrick is meeting with a mother planning her daughter’s funeral and reeling over her grandson being charged with murder.

“I had no idea there was conflict in his mind,” Patrick said. “But there obviously was.”
