TSU shooting suspect still on the loose

- The third suspect in the Texas Southern University shooting was supposed to turn himself in Thursday, but instead was a no show.  He reached out to Activist Quanell X who says he bailed.

HPD homicide investigators were waiting on Jartis Leon LeBlanc, Jr to show up around lunch time. An hour later HPD said they got a tip LeBlanc was hiding.

"He just didn't show up," Sgt. Steven Murdoch said.

Murder charges were filed on the suspect Sunday from the shooting in the parking lot of the Courtyard Apartments. TSU freshman Brent Randall was killed and a second student was critically injured.

"Within 24 hours developed we knew who the suspect was within 36 hours we filed charges with Harris County District Attorney," Murdoch said.

Police say it all started over a basketball game the night before.

"A certain individual got shot that Thursday night. In retaliation for that shooting this individual gets called in (LeBlanc). There is a gang nexus to this. Unsavory individuals like the chief was saying it's very difficult for the university to monitor," Murdoch said.

Two suspects are in custody now police are actively searching for Jartis Leon LeBlanc who is 22 years old, black, 5'10 and a 176 pounds.

Police say they will hold a news conference once the suspect is caught. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers.
