Inmate escapes from Liberty County Jail

-
Phillip Henry Freeman, a Liberty County Jail inmate, has escaped from the facility and deputies are warning the public to watch out the man. Freeman was assigned to kitchen duty and was last seen in the kitchen at approximately 11 a.m. Tuesday. Employees at the jail conducted a four-hour search for him but were not able to find him. Additional charges were filed against Freeman following the escape.

Liberty County Sheriff's Office lead Investigator Sgt. Josh Cummins says Freeman was recently convicted in a home burglary case and was scheduled to be transferred to the Texas Department of Corrections within the next few days.

Freeman has no record of past violence although he does have one prior arrest for resisting arrest, according to Sgt. Cummins.

Phillip Henry Freeman is described as a 38-year-old white man who stands at a height of 6-feet tall, weighing 175 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He wore a brown jumpsuit that looks like medical scrubs.
