Fundraiser held for Cleveland middle school boy who died suddenly

- The family and friends of the 14-year-old Cleveland ISD middle school student who passed away suddenly after hitting his head, held a car wash fundraiser Sunday.

Police say Isaac Brooks was walking to the football game at Cleveland High School stadium and collapsed.

His mom says her son’s death still hasn’t sunk in.  She says Isaac loved sports and had a huge heart.

“It still is a big shock to me because I never planned having to bury my son at a young age. I still cry myself to sleep at night. I can't seem to get any kind of sleep or rest at times,” Arlene Brooks said,

She says her life will never be the same.  Two days ago her heart nearly stopped when she found out her pride and joy was found in the parking lot of Cleveland High School and pronounced dead not too long after.

“I know one day there will be peace at heart, but right now it's too hard because he was my only boy,” Brooks said.

Friends, family and even perfect strangers helped out at the fundraiser to help the Brooks’ with funeral costs.

Mom says Isaac was planning to join his school’s basketball team and was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan.

“He loved football.  His dream was either to become a football player or being in the military or being a police officer,” Brooks said.

The family said Isaac had a pacemaker but they believe he died from internal bleeding in his brain.  His autopsy will be released this week.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland community has come together.

“I feel very blessed that a small community like this has gotten together like one big family, and is helping me through prayer, donations,” Brooks said.
