30 businesses without power at north Houston mall

With Tax Day right around the corner, the Liberty Tax service office in Greenspoint Mall should be really busy right now.

"We've had two clients in the last three days," said Nancy Cronin with Liberty Tax.

They've had no power since last Sunday, along with 30 businesses in the mall including the entire food court.

A transformer exploded causing the businesses to either close, or try to make the best of a difficult situation.
The tax business is using a portable generator to have some power, but they can't get a lot accomplished with this being their busiest time of the year.

"Clients aren't real anxious to come in because we have no lights," said Cronin.

Some stores like Macy's have power and it's business as usual.

Mall management tells us the situation will not change over the weekend and they hope to have an update on Monday.

The way it stands now, it could be this coming Wednesday before power is fully restored at the mall.
